Broadband Expansion Along SR-530

Wyatt Works is supporting community outreach for broadband expansion along SR-530. Our role is to help eligible property owners, residents, businesses, and community organizations understand the opportunity, ask questions, and stay informed as the project moves forward.

Snohomish County is working with Ziply Fiber and the Washington State Broadband Office to expand fiber internet access in rural areas. The SR-530 broadband expansion project is expected to bring fiber internet to around 4,500 locations, helping improve access for homes, businesses, and community services.

For many rural properties, reliable internet is more than a convenience. It supports remote work, online learning, telehealth, business tools, emergency communication, video calls, banking, security systems, and staying connected with family and services.

Why This Matters Locally

Broadband access affects the whole community. Better internet can help families, students, businesses, first responders, healthcare access, and public services. It can also make rural homes and businesses more practical for modern needs, especially where internet options have been limited.

Snohomish County has identified broadband access as an important need, especially in rural areas where service gaps still exist. This outreach effort is intended to help local property owners understand what broadband expansion may mean for them and how to stay involved.

What Eligible Property Owners Should Know

Broadband projects usually happen in stages. These may include planning, outreach, construction, service availability, and individual property installation.

Eligible property owners may have questions such as:

  • Is my property included?

  • When could service become available?

  • What does installation involve?

  • Will construction happen near my property?

  • Who do I contact with questions?

  • What steps do I need to take next?

Wyatt Works is helping provide clear local information, gather feedback, and connect community members with the information they need.

Check Your Property for Fiber Eligibility

Eligible property owners along the SR-530 broadband expansion area may have the opportunity to connect to new Ziply Fiber service as the project moves forward. Residents and businesses are encouraged to check their address through Ziply Fiber’s new fiber locations page to see if service is available, planned, or eligible for updates. In some cases, Ziply may contact property owners about installing fiber lines to the property before service is ordered, which can help make future installation faster if the property owner chooses to sign up for service. Availability and installation details should be confirmed directly through Ziply Fiber’s address checker.
